Over the past decade, the Japan ICU Foundation has increasingly focused on providing scholarships for ICU students. The majority of funding for these scholarships is collected from a group of loyal alumni and friends of ICU in North America. The Foundation provides a number of different scholarships, including:

Dr. Duke-Dr. Yoon Scholarship

The Dr. Duke-Dr. Yoon Scholarship was initiated in 2003 by Dr. Byung-yul Yoon in honor of his former professor at ICU, Dr. Benjamin Duke, and also out of a deep commitment to the importance of maintaining close ties between Korea and Japan. The annual scholarship is awarded to one or two Korean students who are enrolled in either undergraduate or graduate programs at ICU. The scholarship has been a critically important component in ICU's emerging commitment to establishing closer ties with its partner institutions in Korea.

The ICU Church Scholarship

In 2002, the Japan ICU Foundation established a Scholarship for Christian Students from abroad who are enrolled at ICU in one-year study abroad programs. After receiving a generous contribution from the ICU Church in 2005, the scholarship was re-named the ICU Church Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial support for one-year regular (OYR) Christian students who are recommended by campus ministers in their home universities and who are interested in actively participating in the Christian dimensions of ICU.

student scholorships
In recent years, the Japan ICU Foundation has provided over fifty students with scholarship grants to attend ICU. The Foundation has focused largely on need-based scholarships for students from under-represented parts of the world, including Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.

This year alone, the Foundation is providing scholarships to twenty students, who hail from such countries as Burma, China, Korea, Thailand, Zimbabwe and the Congo. The Foundation’s scholarship program is largely enabled by donations received from loyal contributors. On behalf of the recipients, thank you for your generosity.
