JICUF Awards New Grants to ICU Faculty and Students Mark Flanigan
We are pleased to announce that under our new grants initiative for ICU students and faculty, we have now awarded 12 grants totaling ¥3,016,000 and $10,200, respectively. We received 24 grant inquiries this term, and 16 were invited to submit grant proposals. This is a very encouraging start to what promises to be a dynamic new initiative for the JICUF.
As previously detailed on our website, in 2016 we started to provide direct support for activities planned and executed by members of the ICU community through our Grants for Faculty and Grants for Students initiatives. Grants are available in two categories; program and research. In this most recent cycle, our Grants Committee approved six student program, one student research, and five faculty program grants.
Starting this month, applicants may submit inquiries for the Fall 2016 grants cycle via our website, and qualified applicants will then be invited to submit a grant proposal for consideration. The inquiry deadline for Fall 2016 grants is Friday, April 22. Please visit the grants page on our website to learn more about this exciting new opportunity.
In an effort to spread the word, our Executive Director Paul Hastings will visit ICU in early April to meet with our first grantees and to reach out to faculty and students about our Fall 2016 grants. We will aim to continuously improve our grants initiative over time so that we can most effectively support ICU.
We will keep you abreast of our progress, and look forward to sharing more information about our Spring 2016 grant recipients over the next few months. In the meantime, please see below:
