ICU-Carnegie Council “Gender and Japanese Culture” Program

The program is a one-day educational and cultural activities co-sponsored by Carnegie Council on the theme of “Gender and Japanese Culture”. It comprises of two academic lectures (one by ICU professor Yanai, the other by an invited speaker from outside, one academic workshop organized by myself, international luncheon, and Kabuki viewing in the evening. We would like financial assistance for the hands-on experiece of Japanese culture and unique gender performance of Kabuki, and for enhancing interaction among participants from Carnegie Council and ICU. This unique event that focuses on gender performance in Japan will brings fresh insights Gender Studies and Japan Studies, and attract many interested in either field.
