Introducing Our New Photography Intern, Midori Matsunaga
In addition to Hana Kamio, we recently hired ICU sophomore student Midori Matsunaga as our photography intern. With Hana finishing up her junior year, Midori will help photograph JICUF-sponsored events at ICU as well as the campus each season to keep alumni and friends across the globe up to date.
We asked Midori to introduce herself.
“I am Midori Matsunaga, currently a sophomore in ICU.
Looking back at the past two years, photography has been a significant part of my college life. I took up photography, which is something that has always fascinated me, when I entered ICU. Ever since then, I have been doing photo shoots with my friends as a hobby as well as taking photos of the campus as a Yearbook Committee member. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to work as a JICUF photography intern.
Speaking of college life, the Global Link program I participated in last summer was definitely one of the highlights. Stepping out of my comfort zone is not exactly my forte; joining the program meant experiencing various things for the first time, including staying abroad for a month without my family. But thanks to all the new experiences I encountered, I now feel that it’s okay to fail on the first try. This motivates me to push myself to face new challenges.
Now that I am halfway through my college life, there are three things that are on my to-do list this year: (1) pursue the field of gender sexuality studies and business, which are my major and minor; (2) plan my path after graduation; and (3) keep doing what makes me happy – photography. ”
Thank you, and welcome Midori!
