JICUF Launches New grants Initiative
We are pleased to announce a new grants initiative for ICU students and faculty. As detailed on our website, starting in 2016 we will provide direct support for activities planned and executed by members of the ICU community through our Grants for Faculty and Grants for Students initiatives.
Grants will be available in two categories; program and research. Starting this month, applicants may submit inquiries via our website, and qualified applicants will be then be invited to submit a full proposal for consideration. Please visit the grants page on our website to learn more about this exciting new opportunity.
In an effort to spread the word, I visited ICU in December with Sam Shepherd, the Chair of our Board of Trustees. The visit was timed to coincide with the December faculty meeting, during which Sam and I briefed the faculty on our new grants initiative. We followed up our presentation with a series of meetings with administrators, faculty, staff and students. We received positive feedback from numerous people, and will aim to continuously improve our grants system over time so that we can most effectively support ICU.
In January my JICUF staff colleagues Mark Flanigan and Tara DeWorsop will be visiting ICU for two weeks. They will hold daily information sessions for interested students to inform them about our new grants initiative as well as our Global Link summer program, held in NYC.
We will keep you abreast of our progress, and look forward to sharing information about our first grant recipients in April.
