Paul Hastings Appointed Executive Director of Japan ICU Foundation
The following announcement is from Sam Shepherd, Chair of the Japan ICU Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
I am pleased to announce that Paul Hastings was appointed as the organization’s new Executive Director and CEO as of September 1, 2015. Paul replaces David Vikner who retired as of August 31, 2015.
Paul joined the staff of the Foundation in 2006 as Development Associate. In 2007 he was promoted to Director of Development and in 2012 to Vice President. He has played a leading role in the allocation of grant and scholarship funding to ICU, and has also led the development and implementation of various Foundation and ICU initiatives, including the 2012 Aspen Cultural Diplomacy Forum, the Global Link summer program, and Rethinking Peace Studies. He is a passionate advocate of the liberal arts and of global education, and has a deep respect for ICU’s mission and its unique role within Japan and the world.
Paul lived in Japan for 11 years as a child, spending four years in Kanazawa, two in Kobe, and five in Tokyo. He attended Japanese schools for half of his elementary education and is a graduate of the American School in Japan. He received his BA from Bowdoin College in 2004 and his MA in International Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2012. He lives with his wife and two sons in New Jersey.
Please join me in welcoming Paul to his new position.
Sincerely,
Sam Shepherd
