The First Recipients of the Education Pathways Scholarship Matriculate at ICU

On April 1, the first recipients of the Education Pathways Scholarship matriculated at ICU. The Education Pathways Scholarship is a full scholarship which support students who have fled conflict in their home countries. It was designed based on lessons learnt from the Syrian Scholars Initiative and the Japan-Ukraine University Pathways program and is open to refugee students of multiple nationalities. Marharyta, who is from Ukraine, and Rama, who is from Syria, shared these messages.
Marharyta
I’m excited to finally be a part of ICU and I hope to make the best of it. I want to focus on studying international relations, so I can be of help to solving global problems in the future. I can’t wait to meet everyone from this diverse community ICU nurtured in its walls. My dream is to find like-minded people here so together we can make the world a better place.
Rama
Everyone called me an ICU student before I got in, and I believed it too. When it happened, I realised it was just the beginning. Now, I feel the responsibility to prove I deserve this chance and make every moment count, not just for myself, but for those who believed in me.

We hope that your time at ICU will be full of joy and new discoveries!
